Why 6th graders should play sports

Also, sixth-graders are officially part of the middle school community, so they should have the same rights as the older kids, including joining sports teams. If coaches are that worried about us getting hurt while playing with the seventh- and eighth-graders, then they should make a separate team for just sixth-graders. Another reason is the school wants kids to be a little more mature before placing them in organized sports.

Team sports require commitment, discipline, and hard work from all the players. Kids will have to come home from school and do homework, eat dinner, and then go to practice.

Going to school, doing homework, and then going to practice is pretty much a full time job for the kids. This is great practice for when they grow older and hit the work force! Fact: Balancing studies, family, and sports is quite challenging. Becoming a student athlete will teach kids about time management and commitment. Those are our 10 reasons why kids should play team sports.

Some coordinators swapped weak and strong defenders and even rotate secondary based on strength. The goal of this article is to explore and discuss the relationship between the local High School and the local youth programs.

Sports, after all, are supposed to be a meritocracy where those who prove themselves to be the best are rewarded as such. While I feel sixth graders should be allowed to participate because I think every student at the school should be provided the same opportunities, there was another compelling argument I heard in favor of sixth graders playing in middle school sports.

But the thing is the policy change will only give sixth graders the chance to try out for teams, and not give them automatic spots on each squad. Another argument against the policy change was fear of the schools needing more money due to more students being allowed to play sports.

Only the pool of students to select from was getting larger. While I understand the thinking behind that argument against the policy change, the others I heard seemed more like the clutching at straws by people who are resistant to change.

One may think they are protecting a child by not allowing them to try out, but it seems more like coddling. Students should be allowed to play sports so they don't feel left out. I personally don't feel like an honorary middle schooler because I can't participate in middle school activities.

Some people only have the opportunity to play sports at school. These people might not have willing sports parents. People have to understand that if you move sixth graders to middle school that it was their choice and to start treating us like middle schoolers.

They should because they might be smaller, but they could be more athletic and stronger than 7 and 8 graders. They could also just be better at the sport and they could be more smart at the sport than the 7 and 8 graders. That is why 6 graders should be able to play. Because it will let them be fit. You can get stronger. Also it will give you a chance to learn how to play the game.

Your kids won't always be on their phones they will be playing football instead. Also you get rougher and healthier. We are more responsible with more things to do said some kids. Just because they are smaller, doesn't mean they can't play. The smaller kids could give football teams an advantage because they can get through all the bigger kids unlike their 7h and 8th grade counterparts.

And maybe they are extremely good and didn't even get to try out! Let the little ones play! Well this gives kids a chance to have some healthy competition. This also gives boys and girls a chance to stay healthy and fit. Some people may argue that girls shouldn't play on sport teams but with out a chance for girls, they will feel less dominate then they really can be. If 6th graders play sports there will be less obesity problems in 6th grade.

Because it will give kids a fun way to exercise and stop obesity
