Both follow about the same plotline. It's about this nerd that turns out to be really beautiful and gets a really hot boyfriend.
The two are just so much a like. Both are pretty warm-hearted love stories with girls who are kind of nerdy but turn out to be pretty attractive, and a manwhore-type guy takes an interest in them. Both female lead are unfashionable the first time but became cute as time passes by when they fell in love with good looking and popular guys. Have tons of romance as well and the guys protects their girlfriend and treated them really nice.
Mars add permalink. I actually made the mistake of trying to read both at the same time, and ended up getting them confused. Mars is far darker than Kare First Love and also 5 volumes longer. Both focus on shy, artistically-inclined girls Karin wih music, Kira with art who, despite their best efforts, fall for "bad boy" types though Kiriya is A LOT tamer than Rei.
Kare is a lot lighter, but Mars is very realistic. On another note, Mars volumes are kind of hard to find. I had to stop the series because volumes are on backorder at the local bookstore AND online.
Read recommendations by 3 more users. It's the same story, a girl meets with a guy altoght she didn't care about guys too much but she fallen in love with him. Basically Kare First Love is like a attempt to copy Mars that may work for some but does not compare to Mars.
It has the same plot line of a good girl meets a bad boy and somehow they fall in love but they have struggles they must overcome. In both the boys are interested in sex and wish to have sex with their love interest but choose to wait because they truly love the girl and she does not want to have sex for whatever reason.
Also the main boy character has a love for something Mars: racing, Kare First Love: photography that they pursue despite the disagreements of others. Whether you did or didn't like Kare First Love I highly recommend Mars because although they are similar each tell entirely different stories enough to stand on their own. These two have soo much in common, the charactors are basicaly the same and it has a overall same feel to it, they are both enjoyable and present the same situations at times.
The plot is similar and the characters are quite similar too. The art in B. Y reminds of the art in KFL. In both manga is about love, with a few problems. As you know it. But they are all resolved. Both manga are really very beautiful romances, you really must read. The story works really really, you can imagine which makes it an even one. Only to recommend the two mangas. The simple story about first love. Both series focus on a couple.

Both boys were born in a rich family but they have a bad relationship with their fathers because their fathers are company managers and they want their sons to inherate the company but the boys prefer to work as photographers. Both boys are living alone because of that.
And both girls are from a middle-class family and very cute and sweet, this is her first love for both of them. But Kare First Love is much better, Sakura is too short and the storyline isn't well developed. Read recommendations by 1 more user. And the girls with which they fall in love are normal persons who have difficulties in her lives, but they do not give up themselves.
Bokura ga Ita add permalink. Both have a girl who is at first a bit of a dork but is still cute and both girls catch the eye of a popular good looking guy and they each become infatuated with them. Both stories show how each set of characters evolve as they go and how each couple's love blossoms.
