Where is essendon located

The Moonee valley council has sing alongs at all their libraries, organised playgroups, dad meet ups etc. Very close and supportive community with many green spaces. My honest review of the area is that The value of the area would be risen higher if our MP was Liberal instead of Labor.

Essendon train station needs to up their lines, constant train delays getting into work in the CBD. If the trains are not running then the only other way is to catch the tram which is absolutely horrandous during peak hour as there is only one every half an hour and always packed to the max because it's coming down the same line.

Be on the lookout for missing a few trams and trains to work. If you dont like going into the city and want to own your own business in the area, great but then more support should be provided to promote businesses in the inner north-west to survive and that is something the current MP not paying attention too.

Had to send my kids to Wesley college in the city. Um, trams run every mins during peak hour, not every 30 mins. Always have. And feel free to move if you dislike it so much. Proximity to Melbourne Airport, some of the state's best schools, public transport options, a vast array of restaurants and cafes on top of an abundance of other lifestyle features are offered by this northwestern gem.

The Toorak of the North - Essendon is a highly sought after area with very tightly held realeste. I have lived here my whole life and love the convenience to the airpor, trains, trams and city link access to the city only 8kms away. Most of the streets are beautiful and leafy. There are top prestigious schools, gorgeous parks and many other amenities. Essendon is an Expensive area, no doubt about it. Well now its still has that bit of Italian community and leafy green suburbs but now feels a bit like a mix between the Eastern suburbs Brighton mothers and Kew-like Developers.

Alot of mothers are stay-at-home mothers raising their children, ushing them to soccer practice or owning a wellness centre. You get the professionals like the dentists, and cosmectic surgeons in the area and alot of luxury home developers living here and of course the local business owners here. While it is a close family area to live in 20mins Drive non peak hours into the CBD, I found the Train station to be very frustrating at times.

You get a very Cafe lifestyle here, weekends people are always brunching and bringing their kids out to the local parks. Its got a very nice family vibe. Brunswick East is the suburb right next to it if you want the hipster lifestyle however Essendon is nice, its just starting to get overcrowded with all the apartments that are starting to pop up and the lost of classical period homes.

I have been to lots of suburbs to find a house in naturally green environment and found essendon as one of the prettiest one. With population of nearly 20k people in the town, this suburb is spacious, quiet, green and safe.

It's only 20 mins drive from the city and easily accessible with trams and trains. Essendon and neighbourhood suburbs like Moone Ponds are very safe to live in and very close to Melbourne CBD just 7 kms and good public transport connectivity by train, tram and buses. Close to the river, fantastic tree-lined streets, good cafes, close to the city. Essendon unlike its neighbouring suburbs such as Moonee Ponds, Ascot Vale etc This is a contributing factor to the high price of housing in Essendon and so it should be.

Buckley Park College is an amazing public school, it has a terrfiic reputation and yields great results. Many people who live in neighbouring suburbs only wish they were in the zone for Buckley Park College. The fact that Essendon has some of the best schools in Melbourne sets it apart from the other suburbs, and in my opinion, puts Essendon in a league of its own. There are a combination of beautiful Period homes, Modern and French Provincial inspired homes that add to the appeal of the area.

The locals are spoilt for choice when it comes to cafes and restaurants with a great selection. There are many shopping strips with lovely little boutique stores, cafes etc With its family friendly vibe, abundance of parks and recreational activities, it certainly makes Essendon an attractive area to raise a family and also for those seeking a safe environment to live in. Not to mention the prestigious pockets of Essendon including the Mar Lodge Estate with beautiful homes on large blocks of land with single dwelling covenants, adding to the prestige of the Mar Lodge Estate.

It is so nice to drive through the Mar Lodge Estate and not see Townhouse development sites at all. What you will see though are family homes on lovely big blocks and lots of trees. Windy Hill is a beautiful pocket as well, not sure if single dwelling covenant applies to Windy Hill area as well. The single dwelling covenant in the Mar Lodge Estate is certainly rare these days but extremely attractive.

Essendon simply is the "best of the best". A very safe, historical and vibrant community to be apart of. Schools, shopping, architecture, community, and facilities are all first class. Not to mention being close to both airport and CBD. I have spent my life in the suburb of Essendon. It is a friendly, homely and vibrant suburb. Close to public transport links and is in close proximity to the city centre. I would love to spend my adult life here If I could afford it!

Essendon is perfectly located for travel into the city, to the Yarra Valley or to anywhere else in Victoria. I love Essendon, lived here most of my life. All of my school friends still live here, so friendship aren't too far away. Great sporting groups and community too. Essendon is a great family place to live, so much better than Moonee Ponds as we actually have public schools in our zone!! North Essendon - Great access to schools, cafes, restaurants and parks.

Would recommend to any young family. At least try to keep the character - Another 10 years and they will be trying to get that back again. Essendon is a quiet and calm area that has a lot of great places around it and everything is within walking distance. If you don't live here, then you are missing out on too much. I love Essendon, great location. Love the peace around. Family friendly neighbourhoods. Respect and socialisation. Named after the village of Essendon in Hertfordshire, England, Essendon was on the route to the Castlemaine gold fields, with miners travelling along Mount Alexander Road. The unprofitable line closed in July , but reopened in as part of the north-eastern line to Wodonga.

The line to Essendon was duplicated in , during a decade of suburban growth. Many estates near the railway line were subdivided and sold for housing.

The population rose from in to 14 in , notwithstanding the fact that residents of Flemington and Kensington had defected to form their own municipality in Wedged between the abattoirs and meatworks of Flemington, the quarries and brickworks of Brunswick and the industries of Footscray, Essendon was promoted as relatively industry-free, a delightful retreat where residents could experience nature's delights only a few miles from the centre of Melbourne.

This view of Essendon as an 'Eden' among the north-western suburbs persisted into the next wave of development in the first decade of the 20th century, when it was again one of Melbourne's fastest growing suburbs.
